Dave Earhart hopes consistency pays off for 2010 PMRA season
Veteran Pro Modified racer returns to upcoming drag race series with 2002 Camaro

2010STRATROY, ONTARIO ( May 18, 2010 ) – Long-time Pro Modified Racing Association competitor Dave Earhart will once again be behind the wheel of his 2002 Camaro Pro Modified when the 2010 season kicks off May 21-23 for the Victoria Day Weekend at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

“I’ve just finished putting the motor back together and bolting it in the car right now,” Earhart said from his Strathroy, Ontario shop. “We’re trying to add a few more tricks to the car for this year.”

The winner of the Sanair event during the 2007 PMRA season, Earhart’s Camaro is powered by a 526-cubic inch KB Olds, with a Kobelco 14-71 supercharger sitting on top. The Camaro sits on a double rail chassis updated by himself and crew chief Simon Couto, but behind the engine is a unique two-speed transmission based on a TH 400 from the shop of Hutch’s Transmission Service.

Earhart mentioned this transmission has been used as a practical test bed, and has proven itself well since it was installed last year.

“We’re going to try the 400 two-speed again this year,” he said. “It has worked well so far, and I enjoy getting away from the clutch maintenance.”

Earhart also mentioned he restriped his supercharger for the coming season, adding it should provide the engine with more boost. He has also taken 120 pounds out of the car’s weight but it is still a heavyweight.

Along with crew chief Couto, the team of Earhart Racing includes Sherry Earhart, Tanya Vieira and Chris Melo. Sponsorship is provided by Earhart Heating & Cooling in Strathroy, Performance Unlimited and Hutch’s Transmission Service, both based in London.

Earhart placed seventh in PMRA Championship Point Award Series in 2009, and was fourth in the standings before the final event, but was unable to attend the final race.

He said that the field of PMRA cars would be a tough one for 2010, but was optimistic for upcoming success, even though he added his budget is tighter than some of his fellow competitors.

“For all I’ve got to work with and the caliber of teams coming on board, I qualified for all the races last year,” he said. “And that’s something. We may not be fast but we are consistent.”

The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca will headline the Victoria Day Weekend event, which will include a round in the TNT Super Series, and the popular Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series.

Qualifying for the two-day event gets underway Saturday, May 22, at 1:00 p.m., with other sessions at 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. Elimination rounds for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series start Sunday May 23 at 11:15 a.m. and the PMRA at 1:00 p.m.

Dave Earhart takes Eaton PMRA Challenge in Sanair Pro Modified action
The trend continues – another new winner

ST-PIE, QUEBEC (August 18, 2007) - In almost three years of competition in the Pro Modified Racing Association, a new racer has won at every event.

The latest event was no different.

Winning the Second Annual Eaton PMRA Challenge presented by Eaton at the Sanair drag strip Saturday night was Dave Earhart of Strathroy, Ontario.

Earhart became the 13th different winner in as many PMRA races.

“ It’s taken a while, but we finally made it,” said a happy Earhart after the final round held under the lights. “The car was working very well today, and Simon and the rest of the crew gave me a good car to race.”

Driving the Earhart Racing 2002 Chevy Camaro, the PMRA veteran took out Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York, in the final round.

Earhart qualified number one in the eight-car field for the fourth race in the 2007 PMRA tour in front of a large and excited Sanair crowd, including a large contingent of customers and clients from Eaton Electrical, who sponsored the race.

Four of the teams at Sanair had a chance to become the PMRA’s first multiple winner. Winner of the last PMRA race, Guenther, who got to the final, had the best shot at taking another win.

Others who had a chance of becoming the first two-time winner were Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario and Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, Ontario.

In first round action, Earhart eliminated Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario. Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, beat Spiering, and Guenther, who cut a perfect .000 light, took out Andreacchi. Boland eliminated Scott Wildgust of Stratford, Ontario.

Next round action saw Earhart eliminate Brown, who broke, and Guenther took out Boland to set the stage for the final.

With his runner-up finish, Guenther now leads the PMRA point standings, with Maier in second. Boland is third, Wildgust fourth, and Andreacchi rounds out the top five.

The next Pro Modified Racing Association event, the Teamsters Canada Thunder by the Beach Weekend featuring the Castrol "Night of Nitro" and Second Annual - PMRA Challenge will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 1-2 at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.

Dave Earhart gearing up for PMRA season
Plans include running more Pro Modified Racing Association Tour events

STRATHROY, ONTARIO (February 19, 2007) – PMRA driver Dave Earhart plans to take a more active part in the Pro Modified Racing Association’s 2007 season.

“ We’re going to concentrate on more PMRA racing,” said the Strathroy, ON driver. “I’m building some zoomies for the car right now. I won’t be doing any more muffler racing.”

Along with competing in the PMRA tour, Earhart said he plans to run the Quick 8 shows at Grand Bend, and hopes to run in some other events at Toronto Motorsports Park.

The 2006 Ontario Street Car Association Outlaw Street Champ mentioned there will be a few changes to his 2002 Camaro-bodied Pro Modified this year. Along with removing the mufflers on the Alan Johnson 526-cid powerplant, Earhart is working on shedding some weight on the car.

“ We want to get 50 to 60 pounds out of the car,” he explained. “Right now the hood on my car weights 37 pounds. I’d like to get 20 pounds out of it.”

Earhart, www.earhartracing.com, also mentioned he is going from a two-disc clutch to a three-disc version, and will be doing a fuel system upgrade on the engine.

A heating and cooling contractor, Earhart has been racing since 1982 when he bought a brand new Z28 Camaro. He progressed to faster cars through the next 20 years, and built the basis of his present car in 1999. Used initially for Top Sportsman racing, Earhart has continually upgraded the Camaro to full Pro Modified specifications.

The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.ProModifiedRacing.com, will travel to several drag strips in 2007, including Toronto Motorsports Park for two dates, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State, Sanair in Quebec and the western Ontario track of Grand Bend Motorplex. The PMRA has enjoyed strong fan popularity and will present some of the best in Pro Modified racing for 2007.

In 2006, the tour was a great success for the series, finishing with a different winner at each event during the two-year history of the PMRA. Joe Boniferro and Kasey Janzen tied in points last year and were crowned co-champions over the other Ontario, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania teams.
